University of Miami Visit

Our sophomores and juniors truly enjoyed their rescheduled visit to the University of Miami on Wednesday, February 24th!  While our original plan included a trip to both Florida Atlantic University and University of Miami on January 27th, the unsettled weather patterns did not cooperate.  However, our hosts at UM were graciously willing to reschedule and this time the weather was beautiful!

Visiting college campuses is an invaluable part of the college search and application process so our trip included an introduction to the brand-new Admissions Office in the completely renovated University Center. Jeff from Fort Lauderdale, our Tour Guide, gave us an in-depth view of the campus facilities as well as student life on campus.  We saw a residence hall room – nice but a bit small – and peeked in to the gorgeous fitness center. Wednesday is Farmer’s Market day at UM so we were able to enjoy the sights, sounds and scents of the many different food and other vendors in the middle of campus as we walked through.

Near the end of the tour, we stopped at the “U” for a photo op and it’s easy to see that everyone was having fun!

Jeff then escorted us to the beautiful new Braman Miller Center for Jewish Student Life, the expanded Hillel.  After some refreshing lemonade and lunch, Robyn Fisher, Assistant Director of Hillel and Sammy, an active student leader, lead a tour of the building and also discussed the elements of Jewish student life at Miami.

This was certainly a fun and worthwhile experience, and we may just have a few future “Canes” among our Rosenblatt High School students!
